Plush Snakes | Snake Plush Toy
Plush Snake Facts:
With nearly three thousand in the plush snakes species, this reptile can be found in any country around the world. A snake plush toy can be as small as 4 inches long to as much as 32 feet long. Plush snakes come in a wide variety of colors and often sport colors that help them blend into their environment. This assists them in hiding in their surroundings where they can not be easily detected by their enemies.
The snake plush toy lacks appendages, eyelids, and ears on the outside of their head. The most advanced physical ability of plush snakes is their sense of smell. A snake places its long tongue into the air in order to pick up on scents that are close to them. Once detected, a special "Jacobson" organ inside their mouth analyzes the odor. A portion of the snake species even have this organ on the outside of their head to detect any nearby heat fluctuations. Changes in scent and temperature warn the snake to be aware of predators or prey within their proximity.
Plush snakes feeds upon different animals, including rodents, frogs, bats and lizards. There are many ways in which a snake plush toy
traps its food. The majority of snakes kill their prey by wrapping around the animal until it becomes constricted and suffocates. Their strong yet flexible jaws enable them to catch and swallow prey that is larger than their head. While inside the snake's body, the prey is killed and digested by strong stomach acid.
There is a small percent of the plush snakes species, that actually are called flying snakes. These ten unique plush snakes may be seen in the southern Asia jungles. In order to glide form one tree to another, these snakes use their two to four foot long bodies. The snake plush toy will wiggle to the edge of the tree branch and then it will hang off the end in the form of the letter "S". Following this shape they will contract their body to a fraction of its original length and spring up. When in flight, the flying snake plush toy instinctively moves in just the right way to land precisely on target. With binocular vision, these plush snakes can see better than their non flying relatives.
