They are known to live a solitary life, except during extremely cold weather, they may make a nest with nearby squirrels to conserve body heat. They are very active creatures, especially during the late winter months. During this time, squirrel stuffed animals can be found performing acrobatic tricks to attract mates. The squirrel plush is friendly and will communicate with others through chirping. They have been known to laugh with one another and even make a high pitched alarmed chirp to warn others of nearby danger.

Stuffed female squirrels usually have around four babies at a time, multiple times a year. When a baby squirrel stuffed animal is born it is blind, toothless, and hairless until they are around eight weeks old. The baby weighs no more than one ounce and is only an inch long. When a baby squirrels teeth comes in, they will continuously grow six inches every year. However, the squirrel plush species trims down their teeth on a regular basis by munching on tree limbs, and eating hard foods throughout their daily diet.

A squirrel stuffed toy on average will eat a pound of food every day to survive their active lifestyle. The squirrel prefers acorns, nuts, fruit, mushrooms, and even birds eggs. When food becomes scarce or hard to find during certain seasons, it will munch on leaves, seeds, and moths. When wintertime is near they will break upon their acorn with their teeth and clean it by rubbing it along their cheek. After, thoroughly cleaning their food they bury it a foot deep in a special area away from other stuffed squirrels. When cleaning their food they leave a scent on the shell so they can retrieve it later.
