Jungle Plush Stuffed Animals

Alligator Stuffed Animals & Facts
Alligators are the closest thing to dinosaurs we’ll ever get to see in out lifetime. They have been described as living fossils as they have managed to survive for 200 millions years on Earth. While they are mostly known for their bone crushing bite, that hasn’t seemed to deter children from asking for alligator stuffed animals over traditional teddy bears.

Alligator Stuffed Animals
Alligators have to change their locations so they can adjust their body temperature as they’re cold-blooded and aren’t able to regulate it themselves. They’ll lay in the sun on shore to soak up the sun and to cool down either move to the shade or go into cool water.

Elephant Stuffed Animals
The three species of stuffed elephants that exist are all quite similar though there are some differences in their appearance. African elephants are the biggest of the specie's (and the biggest land animals), while Asian and African forest elephant's are smaller. African elephants also have the largest ears of the 3. All of the species have tusks but the African elephant's are more prominent.

Giant Stuffed Monkey Facts
Monkeys are so much like humans that it’s been reported they share 99% of our DNA. That’s quite extraordinary when you think about it. It could be one of the reasons we are so enthralled by a giant stuffed monkey when we see them. They are so much like us that we can relate to them on a level different from most other animals.

Giant Stuffed Monkey Toys
There are more than 150 known species of monkey. They live in two regions of the world and are known as either Old World or New World monkeys. Old World monkeys can be found living in Asia and Africa (like baboons) and New World monkeys live in Mexico and Central and South America (like spider monkeys). Luckily, with a giant stuffed monkey, you don’t have to worry about where they come from or whether or not they can adapt to their habitat – all they require is lots of love and even more cuddles!

Giant Stuffed Tiger
On the Indonesian island of Sumatra, extremely rare video was recently taken of a Sumatran tiger and her cubs which leads conservationists to believe that the endangered cats are breeding in the area. As few as 400 Sumatran tigers remain in Indonesia so this is an exceptional find indeed. To try and monitor the population of tigers in the areas where they primarily breed, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) set up cameras to try and capture them on film.

Giraffe Stuffed Toys
As you would expect, giraffes are the tallest land mammals on the planet. They can reach heights of more than 20 feet. Even baby giraffes are tall – at birth, they’re 6 feet. Babies can run a few weeks after they’re born but for the first few weeks they remain lying down while their mother guards them closely.

Gorilla Stuffed Animal
The name Dian Fossey is synonymous with the mountain gorillas of Africa. In 1967, she set up camp in Rwanda in order to study gorilla ecology, demography, and social organization on a long term basis. Fossey discovered that in order to properly understand them, each gorilla needed to be individually identified in addition to making them comfortable with her ongoing presence. Fossey was able to gain the gorillas’ trust by imitating them both vocally and behaviorally and in 1970, for the first time, a male gorilla she had named “Peanuts,” reached out and touched hand.

Gorilla Stuffed Animals
Whether you knew it or not, next to chimpanzees, gorillas are a humans closest relative – we share 98 to 99 percent of the same DNA. Gorillas are the largest primates with males twice the size of females. They live in very complex social groups in the swamps and forests of Central and Equatorial Africa. Every gorilla plush is different and can be identified by their nose pattern just like a human can be identified by their fingerprint.

Gorilla Stuffed Animals
In the gorilla population, there are but two types of gorilla; the mountain gorilla can be found in Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo and Western gorillas are found in west and central Africa. Gorillas from this part of the world include the western lowland gorilla, which is what we typically see in zoos around the world. There are but approximately 700 mountain gorillas and 200 western lowland gorillas left in the wild – to say they are in dire need of saving from extinction would be a gross understatement. There could come a time when the only gorillas we will ever see are those in captivity or a gorilla stuffed animal that have been made in their likeness.

Koala Stuffed Animal
Anyone that has a teddy bear collection is likely to also have a koala stuffed animal living amongst the plush even though koalas are part of the kangaroo family and are not in fact, bears. That never seems to matter, however, as we treat koala stuffed animals the same way we treat teddy bears: with lots of love and hugs. Koala stuffed animals don’t have to be members of the bear family for us to fall head over heels for them – they are equally as adorable as any bear.

Koala Stuffed Animal & Facts
The name “koala” is thought to be a derivative of an Aboriginal dialect from eastern New South Wales meaning “to drink.” Over time, due to their build and absence of a tail, they were thought to look very bear-like thus they were referred to as “koala bears” or “native bears.” When we talk about koalas today, in particular when referring to koala stuffed animals, we tend to immediately call them ‘bears;’ “did you see that adorable stuffed koala bear on the other side of the store?” Or: “when we’re at the zoo, we must ensure to see the koala bears.”

Koala Plush Stuffed Animals
It’s hard to imagine that in the early 1900s, plush koala bear fur was so popular in Australia, that in 5 years, 8 million of them were killed just to keep up with the demand! There’s only one place in the world to find koalas and that’s in the eastern eucalyptus forests of Australia. Koalas spend their lives in the trees and their bodies were designed just for this lifestyle. Their forepaws have long sharp fingers for climbing along with two opposable fingers that helps them hold onto branches. Their hind paws have 2 climbing fingers plus 2 grooming fingers so they can rid their fur of ticks and twigs that get stuck in their thick fur. Their fur is so thick (and cushiony) in fact, that they can sit on pointy branches for hours on end and never feel any pain.

Lemur Stuffed Animal
There are 90 species of lemur plush that only live in one place: Madagascar, off the coast of Africa. One third of the population is now extinct and the animals that remain are in danger as their habitats keep getting cut down.

Lion Stuffed Animal
Children (and/or adult plush collectors) will benefit from all they can learn about lions once they have a lion stuffed animal. After all, if you have one, why not use it for education about the real thing?

Lion Stuffed Animals
Whether you are a child or an adult, you likely have seen either the film or stage version of Disney's The Lion King. If you're particularly fond of the this story, lion stuffed animal likenesses of Simba are available in different variations – a treat for any child or collector of these stunning wild animals.

Monkey Plush Toy
There are more than 200 species of primates which includes monkeys. Contrary to popular belief, apes and chimpanzees are not classified as monkeys. Monkeys are divided into two groups: Old World and New World monkeys. The division is based on where the monkeys live and certain physical characteristics. A monkey’s nostrils are a sure way to tell if they are Old World or New World; New World monkeys have nostrils which are far apart whereas Old World Monkeys nostrils are close together.

Monkey Plush Toys
Over the years, toy manufactures have tried to come up with a stuffed animal that could compete with the ever popular teddy bear, but most, if not all have failed. Besides being completely adorable, huggable, and a best friend to all that own them, teddy bears are a soft toy that appeals to both sexes. Even though most teddy bears are regarded as male, they are just as popular with girls as they are with boys.

Cute Monkey Plush Toys
Having a monkey plush toy may bring on the urge to have the actual animal as a pet. After all, infants in particular, with their sweet faces and seemingly helpless nature are very hard to resist.

Monkey Stuffed Animals
The 264 species of monkey that exists are divided into 2 groups – “New World monkeys (129 species)” and “Old World monkeys (135 species).” New World monkeys are the smaller monkeys of the species, while Old World monkeys are bigger (like baboons). The easiest way to tell apart the New and the Old is by their nose; New World monkeys have a flat nose that has side-facing nostrils while Old World monkeys have narrow noses with nostrils that face downward.

Orangutan Stuffed Animal
As you might expect, orangutan plush like to spend most of their time in the trees. Since all of their food can be found there along with water from rained-filled leaves, there’s really no reason for them to come down. An orangutan stuffed animal has long and flexible arms and legs and their feet can grab onto branches making it really easy for them to move through the trees.

Panda Bear Plush
Before molecular studies were done, giant stuffed panda bears were thought to be members of the raccoon family, but they have since been confirmed as bears. The only place to find pandas is in southern China but because of over-hunting and loss of their habitats there are only about 1,600 left in the wild (though recent studies say there may be 2,000 to 3,000).

Plush Alligator Stuffed Animals
American alligators typically live in freshwater like ponds, lakes, rivers, and swamps. They can be found in all parts of Florida and Louisiana as well as southern parts of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, South and North Carolina. Of all these regions, Florida and Louisiana have the highest population of alligators anywhere: there are over a million in each state. Given these numbers, it’s unlikely we will ever see the disappearance of alligator stuffed animals anytime soon.

Plush Camel Stuffed Animals
Did you know that a camel’s hump is actually a storage for fat which they can rely on when food is scarce. These animals are so well adapted that when it heats up, they can increase their body temperature so they won’t sweat and lose water. Camels can lose an amazing 40 percent in body mass when food and water are nowhere to be found – compare that to other mammals who would die if they lost 15 percent of their body weight. .

Plush Cheetah Stuffed Animals
The fastest land mammal in the world is the cheetah – it runs up to 68 miles per hour. Unlike other cats, they have retractable claws which gives them better traction when running on soft ground. Their tail also helps to balance them when they reach high speeds and make lightening fast turns.

Plush Gorillas
The rarest gorilla of the 4 sub-species has recently been professionally filmed in the wild for the very first time. The Cross River gorilla, is extremely endangered with perhaps less than 300 animals remaining. After weeks of staking out trees that grow what’s believed to be their favorite fruit – figs -, researchers and a film crew were able to capture the Cross River gorilla on video.

Plush Hippopotamus Stuffed Animals
You might be surprised to learn that hippo stuffed animals are actually more closely related to whales and porpoises than any other land mammal. They weigh in a at a whopping 4.5 tons and next to elephants are likely the biggest land animals (though hippos have never been weighed in the wild because they're too big and too aggressive). Hippos have big thick bodies that are devoid of hair except for a few along their tails.

Plush Tiger
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) believe that less than 400 Sumatran tigers remain in the wild. The habitat in the central Sumatran forest in Indonesia, where the tigers live, is disappearing fast. More than 40% of the forest has been cut down in the last 25 years so that paper and palm oil can be produced. Illegal loggers are also responsible.

Plush White Tiger
White tigers have become increasingly famous in recent years as they were once used in magicians Siegfried & Roy’s Las Vegas stage performances; they referred to them as “royal white tigers”. You can be certain that the sale of white tiger stuffed animals increased after visits to their show.

White Tiger Plush
Like all tigers in the wild, the white tiger is an endangered cat. It has been reported that in the last 100 years, less than a dozen white tigers have been spotted in India, though still others claim there are close to 500 in the wild. In order to draw attention to their plight, why not consider purchasing a white tiger plush over an orange and black one, the next time you’re in the market for a stuffed animal?

White Tiger Stuffed Animals
One can’t help but look on in wonder at a white tiger. After all, they’re not something you see everyday. Even a stuffed white tiger is unusual to see especially next to the orange and black variety. Both kinds, however, are equally huggable.

Why Alligator Stuffed Animals?
It’s sometimes hard to fathom why a child would take to having alligator stuffed animals over the much cuter and cuddlier plush toys (like bunnies and bears), but if you look at their reactions when they watch Disney’s Peter Pan, for instance, it’s not hard to figure it out.

Plush Zebra Stuffed Animals
Zebras like to eat tall grass which they do in herds. Some herds can have tens of thousands of individuals in them, though within the herd, family groups are made up of a male, a few females, and their young. A zebras stripes are thought to act as camouflage for them so as to confuse predator’s, but the fact they they don’t stand still when they spot an enemy and also makes lots of noise, seems to contradict the camouflage theory.
