Plush Elephant Facts:
The plush elephant is a replica of one of the biggest land-dwelling mammals. Did you know that after a baby elephant fully grows, it can be a towering thirteen feet in height and can weigh in at anywhere from seven to thirteen thousand pounds? Every plush elephant comes with a trunk, but did you know the real elephant has a muscle at the tip of the trunk? An elephants trunk has a two finger structure which makes their trunk truly amazing because it takes the place of a hand, signaling equipment, tool, nose and at times another foot! This special feature can enable them to reach up to 23 feet and may be utilized during fights or to take trees down. Plush elephants have complete control of their trunks. A real elephant can choose to be aggressive or gentle enough to pick up a small berry without squishing it. Even a plush baby elephant can utilize their signature physical feature to pick up toys during playtime. Real elephants can suction up as much as 3 gallons of water in a single sniff.
Additional noticeable features of the plush elephants are their ears and tusks. A plush elephants tusks take up a third of the space on their upper jaw. Real elephant tusks are considered their incisors due to them having no canine teeth. These huge tusks let us know the approximate age of the particular elephant. Plus, this special feature of the elephant is their daily tool and can be slanted in different directions. Most plush baby elephants are predominately right or left tusked, just like the real thing. Some plush elephants also have huge ears that can flap, just like elephants do when the temperature is hot. This helps the real elephant lower their body temperature. A plush baby elephant can spread their ears, just like the real thing, showing that their mood has changed. Elephants do this to warn the herd that they have become angry or scared and asking to have space. Elephants are studied for their characteristics as well as for their fascinating behavior, complicated social network, and communication skills. Due to their consist use of these skills it has been proven that elephants have above average intelligence.
Did you know that herds of plush elephants that live in close proximity are not enemies? Real elephants exhibit this social behavior and it's quite unusual for the common jungle animal. Elephants will “talk” with one another by using deep growling or rumbling noises. Plus, even some plush baby elephant toys have their own sound, just like the real thing. The elephants signature call can be distinguished from the crowd. Adult plush elephants can make loud sounds just like the real thing. Real elephants do this when they detect danger in their vicinity and will automatically surround their babies to protect them. Elephants also have the ability to make low noises that other elephants can hear up to 6 miles away. They use this noise to signal nearby herds what is approaching or currently happening. This sound is so low that it is inaudible by the human ear.
